Looking At the Miraculous


Introduction:

There are throughout Scripture scores of miracles recorded. They are revealed to give us the awesome power of God. A miracle is a supernatural source of divine energy. It is an observable phenomenon effected by the direct operation of God’s power. It is a deviation from the ordinary sequences of nature. Its goal is to elicit faith and bring glory to God. Mark 4:38-41


  1. THE MIRACLE OF GOD REVEALING HIMSELF

    1. The Eternal Self-Sufficient One

      1. Appeared to Moses v. 30

      2. The tragedy today is God is shaped to fit the imagination of man.

      3. Blindness and prejudice (Book titled, “The God I want”)


    1. The God of Scripture – Turn To: Exodus 3:1-14

      1. Moses has been reduced to the position of a shepherd.

      2. The book of Acts are the Acts of God – Rom. 1:16; John 3:7

      3. The new birth is entirely of God – John 3:4


    1. God’s Action is Miraculous

      1. The ministry of angels – Heb. 1:14; Col. 1:16

      2. God of your fathers – v.32; Luke 1:18

      3. The miraculous is unavoidable – John 5:36



  1. THE MIRACLE OF OUR SALVATION

    1. What is the explanation of the burning bush?

      1. What does Christianity offer the world?

      2. There are no educational, ethical or political schemes.


    1. Man’s Investigation

      1. Moses was wrong at first – Exo. 3:3

      2. Nicodemus was wrong – “How can these things be”


    1. Getting Closer to the Infinite

      1. Stand Back! Ex. 3:5

      2. Humble yourself – v. 36; I Pet. 5:6 (The Hubble Telescope)


    1. Listen to the voice of God – v. 32 – 34 cf. Matt. 3:17; 17:5

      1. Your pride must be broken – Heb. 12:28,29

      2. We must listen to God’s Beloved Son
